Oklahoma Travel Protect

For my Oklahoma history class I had to plan a trip with out the computer.

A place I would like to go is Broken Bow Lake. Once there, I would like to rent a cabin and boat. Then take the boat out to the big island in the south and hike, climb trees, and maybe go fishing.

From my house we would go East on I 40 for 86 miles or so. Near Henrietta go south on Indian Nation Turnpike for another 86 miles or so, Once at Hugo go east on US 70 for 36 miles or so, till you get to Millerton then go north on US 259 for 12 miles to Broken Bow.

Another place I would like to go is the salt lake near Cherokee OK. Some places in Oklahoma I have been are Arcadia, Enid, Catoosa, Lawtion, Medicine Park, Tulsa, Redrock Canyon, Grove, Talequah, and Sulphur.

Book report - The Hobbit

For Lit class I am reading books. The first book that I have read is The Hobbit by J R R Tolkien. This book was written in 1937 and has 289 pages.

The Hobbit is about a hobbit called Bilbo Baggins. He is invoked by a wizard, Gandalf, in to going on an adventure with 13 dwarves to get rid of a dragon called Smaug and take back the Lonely Mountain.

To get to the mountain they have to though Revendell. Once at Revendell they sang with the elves, ate, and slept at the their houses. Then over the Misty Mountain to Beorn's (who is a shapeshifter) house. After that through Mirk Wood forest. In Mirk Wood forest they ran into giant spiders and got hung in the web. All except Bilbo who lead the spiders away so he could save the dwarves. Once through the forest they are a few leagues from the Lonely Mountain. The Lonely Mountain is the home of Smaug and prior to that it belonged to the dwarves.

After Smaug was killed there was a Battle of five armies for the gold in the Mountain. With dwarves, elves, men, eagles, and goblins all fighting in the war. The goblins lost the war but everyone else lost a lot of fighters too. Then Mr. Bilbo Baggins started on a long journey home.

I like this book because I like elves, dwarves, and dragons. Also I like it because it is a good story. I would recommend it to you if you like to read science fiction books.

Frabjous Forge

The OCHEC (Oklahoma Christian Home Educator's Consociation) convention is a place for home school people to buy curriculum for the school year. They also let 10 to 18 year olds have an entrepreneur booth. My booth was called Frabjous Forge. I sold foam swords. I had two types of swords. I had a Hand and a Half which is the small sword, and the big sword is called the Great sword.

Here I am covering the PVC with foam insulator.
I had to squish the tops of the swords together to make a tip.
I cut hand guards out of 2x4s.

After that, painted them red or black for the first coat. Then I would paint them metallic.

Here I am wrapping them in duct tape.

Now I am wrapping the handles in twine. That took a lot of time.

In this picture, I only had 13 left to put handles on. That was two days before I had to set up my booth.

In the end I had 25 of both swords.
I had a grand total of 50 swords. But I only sold 23 Hand and a Half swords. I had fun seeing all the booths at convention . Next year I might do it again, I do not know.
